NYCDEP CSO-WCM-29 – Westchester Creek CSO Modifications Project

Bronx, New York

This $14 million NYCDEP construction project provided modifications to sanitary and storm sewer structures on Eastchester Road at Morris Park Avenue to respond to necessary alleviation of sewer overflows into Westchester Creek. Construction involved extensive concrete modifications to existing infrastructure and complex utility relocation. The area affected by construction included multiple medical facilities which required a robust community outreach program to prevent disruptions of service.

Ms. Elizabeth Santamaria provided community outreach services on this infrastructure project. Her duties included preparing and distributing newsletters and advisories, keeping the community, residents, and businesses informed of the status of the project, and assisting the community through the process of the reconstruction and addressing any community and residential concerns. She also coordinated meetings with the residents, businesses, contractor, and the DEP Project Team, notifying property owners of impeding work and water service interruptions.
