NYCDDC MED617 – Installation of Distribution Water Mains Along West 10th Street

Manhattan, New York

This $5.9 million construction project involved replacement of water distribution and water main extensions and existing 16” water mains with new 20” DIPs. It also included pavement restoration and relocation of numerous utility facilities.

Ms. Elizabeth Santamaria provided community outreach services to lower the impact of construction on the surrounding residents and businesses. This included providing updates on the project status at Progress Meetings and Community Board District Service Cabinet meetings. She served as an ambassador between the community, contractors, participating agencies and local officials to ensure understanding of project goals and timeline. She improved agency service delivery and public satisfaction through resolution of public concerns and complaints, prepared and distributed weekly construction bulletins and monthly newsletters regarding construction activities and community impacts, coordinated scheduling of operations, and ensured safety and maintenance of construction site.
